The House
Well these are a few shots of the new house if you still manage to check in once in a while Dad. Took me a week and a half to do plaster repair and paint walls and trim, but I think it looks good. Now I'm working on stripping the backyard deck and re-staining, finding lumber to build a bookshelf and then it will be on to the exterior trim.
Cheers

Dad
So Dad I hope you had a swell fathers day. I had a run and we drank to our fathers over a spectacular homemade brunch. Today Herm, Matt and I are off for a hike in Roxborough Park south and west of down town Denver. Hope today is as good as yesterday, remember to water the plants!

PV Install, Sunny Boy and a Sunny Island
This was the first of 2 hands on sessions. I'm hoping the slide show plays in order. 6 PV modules send Vdc into the Sunny Boy inverter which then sends 240Vac to a back up or critical loads panel into a transformer which sends 120V into the Sunny Island inverter which can both charge our batteries or send power to the main AC panel for the building and any excess energy goes through the meter and out to the grid when the sun is shining.

Black Canyon of The Gunnison
Well today I went back to the canyon with a fully charged battery. The day before the battery lasted for 10 shots. The weather also seemed to have a fully charged battery as well. I had warm sun, clouds, darker clouds, rain, light soft hail, larger soft hail and then more sunshine. So if you're reading this Dad enjoy the pictures. If you click on the picture it will take you to Picasa and from there you can watch a full screen slideshow if you click a few items, just look around.

The Weekend
The weekend has arrived. It was a quiet Friday night for me. I had a nice bottle of local cabernet sauvignon, cheese, crackers and beef stick along with the newer James Bond, "Casino Royale". This morning I believe I'm headed off to the Black canyon of the Gunnison. This is suppose to be the grand canyon of Colorado. Here's the thing, it's only 5:45 am, I could be sleeping and I'm not, although I do plan on laying here for at least another hour and a half. Tomorrow I'm hoping for a bike ride since it has finally stopped with the daily rains. I hope to post some pictures of today's adventures so stay tuned Dad.

Another day down
Well day 2 of my PV, that stands for photovoltaic, course is done. I rode my bike today because it looked like a good day for it, but naturally as soon as the class ended, and I mean instantly, it started to pour down with a gully washer. I waited around for about 20 minutes and then accepted a ride home with one of my instructors. Hmmm, better luck tomorrow maybe. Prior to this torrential downpour we learned about the different PV modules and wiring in series and/or parallel to meet specific parameters. Tomorrow we begin site analysis and have a pizza dinner together, more bonding I suppose. Until the next time, cheers.

For the Folks
Yes it's been a long time but for you Dad I'll try to put a little something up while I'm in Paonia learning how to design and install photovoltaic systems. I've settled into my hosts home on the 4100 road and will plan on riding my bike the 3 miles to class and back every day weather permitting. Right now I just need to get myself out of bed and my things together for the ride. I'll let you know how the first day went this evening.

Long Time Coming
Well this has been a long time coming. I haven't posted anything since Nov. yikes! But since there is a rather historic day coming up I feel motivated, invigorated, animated! Barack Obama will be "My" president unlike his immediate predecessor. But I think this whole build up to the inauguration is a bit much. I realize it will be history on a massive scale but did I have to know there would be 28,000 chairs and 5000 port-o-potties? I suppose if I was actually going to be there the latter figure might be of interest but I'm not. Like the Super Bowl I'll watch it with a billion people on the television. I'll be comfortable and warm and will have a fridge full of food just a few steps away. If it gets to some possibly boring spot I can change channels and watch reruns of "House" or WWE Smack down, not that I would but I at least have that option. SO enough about that because we'll all be watching. In slightly more interesting or more personal information I went to the Denver Zoo last Saturday and took some pictures I thought I'd share. So without further adue.......
